Pritam Chakraborty, well-known as Pritam, is a composer, guitarist, instrumentalist, and singer. He began to play the guitar while still in school and received early musical training from his father. Pritam attended St. James' School and graduated from Presidency College with a bachelor's degree in geology. In 1994, Pritam enrolled in FTII, Pune, to study Sound Recording and Engineering. He was offered the opportunity to record background music for a film by Hungarian filmmaker Istvan Gaal throughout this time. Pritam started a band called "Jotugriher Pakhi" with his presidency classmates, for which he played the guitar. They even had a cassette to their name after that time.

In 2001 – Pritam started his career with the composition of "Tere Liye" with Jeet Gannguli.
In 2004 – He composed songs for the film "Dhoom," which became a blockbuster hit.
