Philip Hampson Knight is a businessman from America who’s worth billions. As the co-founder and chairman emeritus of Nike, he served as its very first chairman and CEO. Forbes lists him as the 24th richest person in the world with an estimated wealth of $54.5 billion as of July 23, 2020. Philip also owns a stop-motion film company called Laika. Before all this money, he earned degrees from the University of Oregon and the Stanford Graduate School of Business by participating in track competitions there under Bill Bowerman’s guidance. Bowerman eventually founded Nike himself.

In 1962: After graduation, Knight made a stop in Kobe, Japan, during his journey around the world.
In 1977: Knight founded Athletics West along with Bowerman and Hollister.
In 1998: After failing to pursue a career in rap music, Travis Knight, who had studied from Portland State, began working as an animator at the studio. Knight assumed a 15% share in the business.
In 2006: A large individual donation to a U.S. business school was made by Knight to Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1997, for US$105 million.
In 2007: Knight said that he and his wife would contribute $100 million to establish the UO Athletics Legacy Fund, which will aid in funding all of the university's athletic programs.
