Jack Crawford Taylor, a well-known American businessman, was born in 1922, in Missouri. Before joining in the US Navy and flying fighters in World War II, he attended St. Louis Country Day School.

After the war, Taylor founded a car leasing company called Executive Leasing in 1957, which later became Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
He started with a fleet of only seven cars and eventually grew the company into one of the largest car rental companies in the world, with over 7,000 locations in 30 countries.

Taylor was a generous philanthropist, establishing the Taylor Family Foundation to support charitable causes, including education, healthcare, and the arts.
He also donated over $50 million to the Missouri Botanical Garden, where a wing of the garden is named in his honor.
