Rick Warren was born on January 28, 1954. He is a pastor and author who belongs to the American Baptist church. His Saddleback Church, a megachurch of evangelical Baptists in Lake Forest, California, was founded by him. He grew up in Ukiah, California, and graduated from Ukiah High School in 1972. There have been numerous speaking engagements for him at the World Economic Forum in Davos, the United Nations, Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, and Time Magazine's Global Health Summit. He also hosted the Civil Forum on the Presidency, which featured back-to-back interviews with John McCain and Barack Obama.

• Rick Warren was still a student at California Baptist University when he was called to full-time ministry by the age of nineteen. He also drove to San Francisco to hear Pastor W.A. Criswell preach.
• Rick Warren gave his first public service speech at Laguna Hills High School Theater in 1980, where he founded Saddleback Church. There were 200 people in attendance on Easter Sunday.
