Barcelona finished 2021 in a positive line appreciate that 1-1 draws apart to second-place Sevilla in their final La Liga game of the year. Barça went to one of the toughest stadiums in Spain and competed at the extreme level, building better chances and will be upset not to win against a Sevilla side that collapsed ten men early in the second half.
First Half
Maybe 90-minutes of the battle against Atlético Madrid last weekend shows harmful effects because Sevilla didn’t look like the team we’ve spotted all season. They allowed Barça to dominate the first 25 minutes, but they reveal why they are the best defense in the league.
In the last half of 15 minutes, Sevilla finally looked alive, and they obtained a goal with a nice corner kick and a nice finish by Papu Gómez.
The second half is just aggressive as the first, with both teams fighting for a place and some very somatic play by the two sides. With about a half-hour to go, a game-changing moment happened when the referee gave a straight red. That gives a chance to Barça to try and find the winner.
In the end, the final whistle came to an end, an outstanding game of football in Seville, and Barça not only got a valuable point but deserved to win against the second-great team in the league.
