Thomas Stearns Eliot OM was born on 26 September 1888 and died on 4 January 1965. He was a major 20th-century poet, essayist, publisher, playwright, literary critic, and editor. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to England in 1914, becoming a British citizen in 1927. His famous works include "The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock," The Waste Land, and Four Quartets. He was awarded the 1948 Nobel Prize in Literature.
