About (Profile/Biography):

Sir Ahmed Salman Rushdie is a British-American novelist who was born in India. His stories are frequently set in the Indian subcontinent and often involve cross-cultural interactions, clashes, and migrations. His work frequently combines magic realism with historical novels. During the 25th and 40th anniversary of the Booker Prize, Rushdie's Midnight's Children (1981) was praised as the "best novel of all winners." Rushdie received many assassination plots and death threats following the publication of his fourth book, The Satanic Verses (1988). Ruhollah Khomeini, the glorious leader of Iran, also issued a fatwa calling for Rushdie's murder.

Career:

In 1975: Rushdie's debut book, Grimus, a science fiction story in part, was mostly disregarded by the general audience and literary critics.

In 1981: His next book, Midnight's Children, made him a literary celebrity.

In 1983: Rushdie created "Shame" after Midnight's Children and based his figures on General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq and Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to portray the political unrest in Pakistan.

In 2012: Rushdie was one of the first well-known writers to support Booktrack.

In 2019: The classic novel Don Quixote served as the inspiration for Rushdie's fourteenth novel Quichotte.

Achievements and Awards:

In 1993: He got the Austrian State Prize for European Literature.

In 1998: Rushdie was honored with the Booker Prize.

In 2014: He received the Hans Christian Andersen Literature Award.

Unknown Facts:

While writing his first two books, Rushdie worked for an advertising agency. He left the company after the success of his second one.

Despite his "change of heart" in 1990, his death threats persisted, and he later admitted that it was a show for those seeking his execution.
