Juntree Siriboonrod was a Thai civil servant, a science educator, and a prolific writer best known for his work in science fiction as well as science-related articles as well as stories about scientists. It was during his time as a teacher at the Kenneth Mackensie School in Lampang Province that he began his writing career and he continued to publish until he resigned from his position in 1959. A special award has been created to honor the achievements of Thai science fiction authors in 2005, called the Juntree Siriboonrod Award.
Juntree Siriboonrod career:
At the start of his career, Juntree Siriboonrod worked for the Thai government as a civil servant in the Mineral Fuels Division (now known as the Department of Mineral Fuels in the Ministry of Energy).
After teaching high school science at the Kenneth Mackensie School in Lampang Province for a number of years, in 1945, he began writing novels and science-related articles, which were published in limited numbers.
Along with Dr Preecha Amatyakul, then Assistant Secretariat of the Science Society of Thailand, he started working on the magazine Witthayasat Mahatsachan in 1945, publishing works of science fiction and science-related articles as well as biographies of scientists until he resigned in 1959 from the magazine.
