Kenneth Noland, a well-known abstract painter, was a pioneer of the colour field painting style. He was created in 1924 in Asheville, North Carolina. In contrast to abstract expressionism's predominance of form, Noland was linked with a group of artists that investigated the use of colour as a primary feature in their work. He was well renowned for his colourful, abstract, and circular paintings.
