In order to bring her abductor to justice, Kozakiewicz and her family collaborated with law enforcement and the FBI from 2002 to 2004.

Alicia Kozakiewicz created the Alicia Project in 2006, a group to teach parents, teachers, and kids about the risks of online predators and how to use the internet safely. The Pennsylvania House of Representatives, Senate, and City of Pittsburgh noticed her hard work in 2010. All three recognized Kozakiewicz for her efforts in creating awareness of online predator danger. To this day Kozakiewicz is still an advocate for internet safety, a public speaker, and member of the Alicia Project. She constantly talks with groups making one thing clear: education on how to stay safe online is important.

In 2013, Kozakiewicz win the Crime Prevention Community Service Award from the National Crime Prevention Council.
