Bernice King, a well-known American minister, was born in, 1963, in Georgia. The youngest child of Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King, Bernice is a prominent figure. 

Bernice King Education

In Atlanta, where she was raised, Bernice King went to the same high school as her father, Martin Luther King Jr. Afterwards, she attended Spelman College and graduated with a degree in psychology. 

She continued her education after receiving her diploma at Emory University, where she eventually graduated with a master's in divinity.

Bernice King Career

After receiving her ministerial ordination in 1985, Bernice King joined her mother at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. 

She also was active in a number of civil rights organisations and campaigns, including the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), which her father had helped create, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Bernice King was appointed CEO of the King Center, an organisation devoted to encouraging nonviolent social change, in 1997. She sought to increase the outreach and educational initiatives at the centre during her time there.

Bernice King has also been an outspoken advocate for a range of social justice causes, including LGBTQ+ rights, gun violence prevention, and racial justice. She organised a march in Memphis, Tennessee, in 2018 to mark the 50th anniversary of her father's murder and to draw attention to ongoing racial justice struggles.

Bernice King Honors and Awards

Bernice King has received honors for her work on behalf of social justice and civil rights throughout her career. She was given the Trumpet Prize for the Promotion of Racial Relations in 2007. 

Bernice has also received the Women of Power Award from the National Council of Black Women and the Rosa Parks Legacy Award.
