About (Profile/Biography):

Abraham Lincoln, a well-known president of the United States, was born in Kentucky. From March 1861 until his murder in April 1865, Abraham Lincoln served as the 16th President of the USA. He is regarded as one of Nation's largest heroes because of his leadership throughout the American Civil War and his efforts to abolish slavery. He had a meagre official education because he was raised in poverty, but he was a great reader and self-taught in a variety of areas.

Abraham Lincoln's Political Career:

As a Whig Party member who served in the state legislature of Illinois and for one term in the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1830s, Lincoln got his start in politics.

Lincolnran unsuccessfully for a number of political seats, but he had a reputation as a persuasive speaker and a man of moral principles.

Lincoln debated Stephen Douglas in a series of speeches during their 1858 race for the U.S. Senate, known as the "Lincoln-Douglas Debates."

Lincoln rose to national fame thanks to these remarks, which also aided him in winning the Republican Party's candidature for President in 1860.

Lincoln easily won the 1860 presidential election, becoming the first Republican to hold the office.

His victory sparked the Civil War to break out in 1861 and the secession of numerous southern states.

Lincoln led the Union army as its commander-in-chief during the conflict, and with the ratification of the End Of slavery in 1863 and the 13th Amendment of the Constitution in 1865, he was able to maintain the Union and end slavery.

The Act Of 1862, which granted land to immigrants in the West, and the construction of the first railroad were two other major economic and social developments during Lincoln's presidency.

Abraham Lincoln's Contributions:

Lincoln is highly regarded as one of America's greatest presidents and his passing rocked the country.

The majority of people agree that Lincoln's greatest achievements were his leadership during the Civil War and his work to keep the Union together and abolish slavery.

Abraham Lincoln's Death:

On April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth shot and killed Abraham Lincoln at Washington, D.C.'s Ford's Theatre as he watched a play.
