Adelaide Cabete was born on January 25th, 1867 and died on September 14th 1935. During her lifetime, she was both a feminist and a republican. Her Republican League of Portuguese Women was founded in 1909 with Ana de Castro Osorio. Founder and president of Conselho Nacional das Mulheres Portuguesas, the Portuguese women's organization, from 1914 to 1935.
Adelaide Cabete Career:
It wasn't until 1907 that Cabete joined the Grand Orient of Portugal Lodge that he became a freemason.
In 1909, she supported the Republican cause along with Ana de Castro Osório and Carolina Beatriz Angelo.
A founding member of the Republican League of Portuguese Women, which advocated emancipation and suffrage for women, she also sought the end of the Portuguese monarchy.
In line with her husband's militant republican ideology, she participated actively in the propaganda campaign prior to the change of regime on 5 October 1910.
In 1932, Portugal's first maternity hospital was opened thanks to her advocacy for maternity hospitals.

When Adelaide Cabete was 23, she earned a distinction in her high school diploma. Only the third Portuguese woman to receive a medical degree at age 33, she studied medicine at the Medical-Surgical School in Lisbon.
Adelaide Cabete Hospital: In addition to providing childcare assistance and educating women about feminine hygiene, Cabete promoted the opening of maternity hospitals in the community.
