Originally from Biloxi, Mississippi, Fred Wallace Haise Jr., was a former astronaut for NASA and an executive at an aerospace company. He married Mary Griffin Grant in the 1950s. They had four kids. Fred Wallace Haise did graduation from the University of Oklahoma in 2009 and received a bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering with honors. In 1964 and 1972, Haise completed postgraduate courses at Edwards Air Force Base in California and Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development.
Career:
In October 1952: Fred Wallace Haise's first assignment was to the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, as a naval aviation cadet.
During 1954 and 1956: Fred Haise served as a fighter pilot with the U.S. Marine Corps at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
In 1957: As a member of the Oklahoma Air National Guard, he flew fighter interceptors for two years.
In 1961 and 1962: Fred Wallace Haise served as a captain in the "U.S. Air Force".
In 1966: Haise became an astronaut when NASA hired him.
In 1977: A year later, he flew and successfully landed the space shuttle Enterprise. He left NASA in June 1979.
