India celebrates Vijay Diwas on December 16 to honour its victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war, which led to the conception of Bangladesh. On this day, Indians pay respect to the brave soldiers of our country. The important time of the history of the subcontinent also recognized the ability of the Indian Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, and Indian Airforce. Vijay Diwas 2021 marks the 51st-anniversary celebrations of India\u2019s victory over Pakistan in 1971.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After fighting for 13 days, the Indian army won the war against Pakistan on December 16, 1971. However, during the fight for independence in East Pakistan, the war was ongoing on December 3, 1971, and ended 13 days later on December 16, with the documented surrender of the Pakistan army.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this day, the Major-General in the Pakistan Army, Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, capitulated to the joint forces of the Indian Army and Bangladesh\u2019s Mukti Bahini. Niazi, who complied with 93,000 Pakistani troops, was the Commander of the Pakistan Eastern Command and had also signed the \u2018Instrument of Surrender at Ramna Race Course in Dacca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018Instrument of Surrender was signed and putative by Lieutenant General Jagjit Singh Arora, the then General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of India\u2019s Eastern Command. After World War II, it was also the huge ever military surrender. In this war, Pakistan face the maximum casualty of 8,000 dead and 25,000 wounded, while India’s 3000 soldiers were martyred and 12,000 were wounded. The 1971 war born of Bangladesh on the world map, which was until then East Pakistan. Bangladeshi celebrates the day as \u2018Bijoy Dibos\u2019 of mark the country\u2019s public independence from Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
